"I don't believe in it," she says. "I don't like vampires. ... I don't like the wolf that pops out of the screen when I'm watching my TV at night. I don't like it. I don't want anything to do with it. I don't like the shirts. I don't like any of it."
All of a sudden, hoards of teenage girls swarm the poor celebrity, hating and flaming her for giving her simple opinion.
Now, I don't agree with Miley often, but I have to on this. I don't care for the Twilight saga, either. Not because I'm scared of werewolves or vampires, but because I think it's poorly written and the characters are not depicted in a realistic way.
Don't get me wrong, I read all four of the books. I even attempted to watch the movie, but I couldn't do it without falling asleep. It begins boring and ends predictably. Books one through three beat around the bush with bullshit filler content and number four is nothing but fanservice. Book One was the only one I somewhat enjoyed, until about the last 100 pages and I'm thinking, "What the hell?" For over three quarters of the book, Bella does nothing but daydream and be stalked by this creepy pale guy who- in Bella's and every other hormone-filled girl's opinion, think is so undeniably hot. Then, all of a sudden, she's being chased by yet ANOTHER person who just has to have her? Bullshit, Meyer. Bullshit. Rising action equals zero in this story.
Back to characters, Bella, too, is of course incredibly hot (but she'll never admit it, because she, just like every other teenager, hates herself and thinks everything about herself is dull and lifeless [lol]). She is Mary Sewage in her prime. Her good (what with her instant acceptance into everyone's lives, instant friends, hot body, amazing ability to cook, fearless attitude, mature outlook on life, and ability to manipulate just about anyone) is more blown up than her bad (clumsiness). Of course, she's nothing compared to her perfect, hot, sweet, loving, gentle, self-controlled, good-guy/bad-guy emoshit boyfriend, Edward.
The only believable, likable/hateable character in the entire series is Jacob. If I had to pick a team, it would be him. Not because he's a werewolf, but because he's imperfect. He has personality. He has emotions, strengths and weaknesses, and he is just an all-around well-depicted character with a rich background and mysterious depths.
So, Twilight fans and Twilight nots, I'll have to give Stephanie Meyer the finger on this one. Really.
